The court’s Traffic Division lists traffic-school eligibility on the reminder notice and provides online citation services. California traffic school may mask an eligible point from the driving record; it does not erase the citation. Before enrolling with GoToTrafficSchool.com, confirm with the court that you are eligible and that it will accept the specific course.

Which court handles my Sonoma traffic citation?

The relevant local traffic court is the Superior Court of California, County of Sonoma, Traffic Division. The court says its Traffic Division processes Vehicle Code moving violations and certain other infractions. This does not establish that every citation issued within Sonoma city limits goes to this court; follow the court named on your citation or reminder notice.

Traffic information: (707) 521-6680; telephone hours listed by the court are Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–noon.

Traffic-school referrals: (707) 521-6587; listed hours are Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–4:30 p.m.

Court office hours: Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–3:30 p.m. The court lists court hours separately as 9 a.m.–5 p.m.

Use the court’s Traffic Division page for procedures, and its online services page for the official “Traffic Pay by Web” service. That service can be used to pay or enroll in traffic school if eligible, and may allow a due-date extension if eligible. A missing online record does not cancel a deadline: contact the Traffic Division if you have not received a reminder notice within six weeks of the citation.

Before choosing traffic school

The California Courts Self-Help Guide says the court notice should state whether you may attend traffic school. Eligibility commonly depends on having a valid license, receiving the citation in a noncommercial vehicle, and not having completed traffic school in the preceding 18 months; some violations are excluded. Commercial-license and commercial-vehicle situations have different rules. Check your own notice and ask the court about your case.

For Sonoma County citations, the court’s reminder notice provides the traffic-school eligibility information. The court says you must sign up through the court if eligible. It also lists online and home-study classes as available. GoToTrafficSchool.com says it offers California online traffic school, but this research did not independently verify the company’s specific acceptance by Sonoma County Superior Court. Confirm the provider and course with the court before enrolling.

A completed, court-approved course may keep an eligible point from appearing on the DMV record. It does not erase the underlying citation or conviction. Court requirements and course enrollment are separate: enrolling in a course does not itself respond to your citation or satisfy the court’s deadline.

Sonoma-area traffic safety

The City of Sonoma’s Traffic Safety Committee reviews residents’ neighborhood traffic-safety concerns and advises the City Council about proposed physical improvements. Residents can use the City’s traffic hazard reporting form and committee information to ask that a local concern be reviewed.

A February 2026 committee agenda reported that West Spain Street rehabilitation was completed before Christmas 2025 and included traffic-calming elements on a newly converted bike boulevard. The agenda also described a separate citywide bicycle and pedestrian project, including planned bike-path crossing work and a proposed Third Street West bike boulevard. Project timing can change; check current City updates before relying on construction schedules.

Frequently asked questions

Is traffic school automatic after a Sonoma ticket?

No. Check the reminder notice for eligibility and contact the court if unclear. Do not enroll on the assumption that a course will be accepted.

What does California traffic school do?

For an eligible driver and citation, court-approved completion may mask a point from the DMV record. It does not erase the citation or conviction.

Can I use GoToTrafficSchool.com for my Sonoma County citation?

The company lists a Sonoma County Superior Court selection in its directory, but that company listing is not independent confirmation that the court will accept the course for your case. Confirm directly with the court before enrolling.

Where can I check or pay my citation?

Use the Sonoma County Superior Court’s official Traffic Pay by Web service, following the citation and reminder notice instructions. Payment and course enrollment are separate actions.

What if the court has not sent me a reminder notice?

The court instructs people who have not received one within six weeks of the citation to contact its Traffic Division at (707) 521-6680. Do not assume the deadline has paused.

Can I get more time?

The court says an extension may be available. Request it through the court’s online service or by calling the Traffic Division, and confirm that it has been granted; do not assume it is automatic.

Does traffic school guarantee an insurance discount?

No specific discount for taking this course was verified. California’s point-masking rules and insurance-company rating practices are not a guarantee of a premium reduction. Ask your insurer about your policy.
