Georgia Traffic School and Defensive Driving in Jefferson County
If a Jefferson County, Georgia, court has told you to complete a course, first contact the court listed in Section IV of your citation and ask whether it accepts GoToTrafficSchool.com’s specific online course for your case.

3 easy steps
- Complete the online course
- Get your certificate
GoToTrafficSchool describes its Georgia Traffic School as a self-paced, four-hour online course, but its acceptance for a Jefferson County case is not verified. Do not enroll for a court requirement until you have confirmation and instructions for submitting your certificate.
GoToTrafficSchool’s online course is not accepted by Georgia DDS for driver-license purposes, including DDS points reduction or license reinstatement. For those purposes, DDS requires a qualifying course from a certified Driver Improvement school; its directory states that qualifying classes must be at least six hours in a classroom and online classes are not accepted. The DDS certified-school directory is the official place to check schools and course requirements.
Before enrolling for a Jefferson County citation
- Check your citation. The citation’s Section IV identifies the court, date, and response instructions. Jefferson County citations do not all necessarily go to the same court.
- Contact that court before enrolling. Ask whether the exact GoToTrafficSchool online course is accepted for your case, whether permission must be granted in advance, what the course must accomplish, and how the court requires the certificate to be submitted.
- Keep your response deadline. Course registration is not a response to a citation and does not extend a court date. If you cannot find the citation online, contact the court rather than assuming the deadline has changed.
- Confirm receipt. After completing a course the court has approved, follow its submission instructions and confirm that the certificate was received and your case requirements are complete.
A course certificate does not itself dismiss a citation, prevent a conviction, remove points, or reinstate a license. The court decides the disposition of a court case. DDS points reduction is a separate process with separate requirements.
Jefferson County traffic ticket lookup and court contacts
Georgia has no centralized database for traffic citations. The Judicial Council of Georgia says an online citation may take 7 to 21 business days to appear where a court uses an online service. A missing online record does not cancel your response deadline. Use the citation or official notice to identify the court, and contact that court directly if the record is unavailable or you have missed a court date. See Georgia Courts’ citation lookup and payment options.
The courts and contacts below are a non-exhaustive selection of verified Jefferson County traffic routes. The citation or later official notice identifies the court assigned to your case. Online payment services handle payments or citation searches; they are not substitutes for contacting the court about course permission, contesting a citation, or deadlines.

The county clerk’s public traffic role and contact information are verified, but the court’s full assigned geographic service area is not established by the sources reviewed. Official city information confirms traffic-court roles for Wrens and Wadley. For Louisville, Bartow, Stapleton, or another municipality, rely on the court named on your citation; do not infer the assigned court from county residence or the place where you live. The county clerk’s office can be reached through the official county court page. Georgia’s court directory and citation lookup links provide additional official routing.
What Georgia’s Driver Improvement course is for
Georgia uses Driver Improvement and Defensive Driving for its regulated six-hour course. DDS does not accept online Driver Improvement certificates for driver-license or driving-privilege purposes. A Georgia resident may request a reduction of up to 7 points once every 5 years after completing the required DDS-certified course and submitting the original certificate to DDS. Completion alone does not automatically change a driving record; see DDS points and points reduction.
That state-regulated program is separate from a court-directed course. A court may have its own case-specific requirements, but no countywide rule confirming that Jefferson County courts accept GoToTrafficSchool’s course was verified. Ask the court handling your citation before enrolling.
Insurance and defensive-driving courses
Georgia law requires insurers to offer a reduction on specified coverages when the statute’s conditions are met. Among other requirements, drivers age 25 or older must meet the statute’s driving-record and course conditions; the named drivers on the policy must meet the applicable requirements. The statute identifies qualifying course categories, including a six-hour course from a DDS-approved clinic or school. Drivers under 25 have a different qualifying-course requirement. See O.C.G.A. § 33-9-42.
Whether GoToTrafficSchool’s specific online course qualifies for this insurance benefit is not verified. Ask your insurer whether the course and your policy qualify, what proof is needed, and when any benefit would apply. An insurance benefit is separate from a court requirement and from DDS points reduction.
Frequently asked questions
Can I take GoToTrafficSchool’s course for a Jefferson County ticket?
Acceptance for a specific Jefferson County case is not verified. Before enrolling, ask the court named on your citation whether it accepts GoToTrafficSchool’s exact online course and how you must submit proof.
Will completing the online course remove points from my Georgia license?
No. DDS does not accept online Driver Improvement courses for driver-license purposes. For points reduction, follow DDS’s requirements for a certified course and submission of the original certificate.
Can I use the course for reinstatement?
GoToTrafficSchool’s online course is not accepted by DDS for license-reinstatement purposes. Check your DDS account or official reinstatement instructions for the requirements that apply to your record.
Where do I look up my Jefferson County traffic ticket?
Start with the citation and the court it names. Georgia has no centralized traffic-ticket search. If the court provides an online lookup, the citation may not appear immediately; Georgia Courts advises allowing 7 to 21 business days where applicable. Contact the court directly if it does not appear or your response date is approaching.
Does signing up for a course extend my court deadline?
No extension is established by course registration. Follow the date and instructions on your citation or official notice, and ask the court directly about any possible extension. Do not assume one is granted unless the court confirms it.
Is Jefferson County’s online ticket-payment page the same as the court’s case search?
No. The county clerk links to an online payment service for county-court tickets, while Georgia Courts lists citation search and payment services used by participating courts. A payment portal does not decide whether a course is accepted or provide case-specific legal advice.
Can I use a defensive-driving course for an insurance benefit?
Possibly, if the policy, driver, and course satisfy the applicable requirements. The GoToTrafficSchool course’s qualification is not verified; ask your insurer before enrolling.
