The court says a certified Georgia Driver Improvement/Defensive Driving course may be required as a condition of a plea agreement, but this does not establish that GoToTrafficSchool’s online course is accepted for your case. Ask the court identified on your citation for permission and course instructions before enrolling. Harris County Probate Court traffic information
GoToTrafficSchool lists a self-paced online course as Georgia – Traffic School. The company describes it as a four-hour course, but Georgia DDS requires a different, certified Driver Improvement course for license-related purposes: at least six hours in a classroom, with online classes not accepted. GoToTrafficSchool’s course is not verified for DDS points reduction, reinstatement, or other driver-license purposes. Georgia DDS Driver Improvement FAQ | DDS certified-school directory
Start with the citation and the assigned court
Your citation and any later court notice control where and when you must respond. Harris County Probate Court advises that the initial hearing date is generally printed on the citation unless the court gives written notice otherwise. Some offenses require an appearance; the court’s traffic page lists examples, including reckless driving, driving with a suspended license, and certain serious charges. If the court calendar does not show your name, call the court to verify the date. Do not treat an absent online listing as a canceled date.

Probate Court of Harris County, Traffic Court | Physical address: Harris County Courthouse, 102 North College Street, Room 227, Hamilton, GA 31811. Mailing address: P.O. Box 569, Hamilton, GA 31811. Phone: 706-628-5038. Office hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m. The court hears misdemeanor traffic cases occurring in the county’s unincorporated area. The citation or later notice identifies your assigned court; do not assume this court handles every citation issued within county boundaries. |
Use the court’s traffic information page for its hearing calendar, appearance guidance, contest procedures, and payment instructions. The court says matters not requiring an appearance may be paid online through EZ Court Pay or by phone at 800-262-0128. EZ Court Pay is a payment service—not a statewide case-search system.
Georgia has no centralized traffic-citation search database. The Georgia Courts Locate or Pay My Ticket page links to participating services and says online payment availability can take 7–21 business days. If your citation is not available online, contact the court named on it. A missing online record does not change a response deadline.
The Harris County Probate Court says some charges require an in-person appearance and cannot be paid in advance. For charges that require court, the court describes options for entering a not-guilty plea and requesting a bench or jury trial; contact the court for its current instructions. Paying a ticket is not the same as contesting it. Review the court’s instructions before deciding how to respond.
Check course acceptance before enrolling
Harris County Probate Court says a DDS-approved Driver Improvement course may be a condition of working out a plea agreement for speeding and other moving violations. That statement does not mean every provider or online course is accepted, or that course completion guarantees a particular plea or case result.
Before taking any course for a ticket:
- Read the citation and later court notices to identify the court, response date, and whether an appearance is required.
- Contact that court to ask whether it accepts the specific online course and provider, whether advance permission is needed, and how the completion document must be submitted.
- Follow the court’s directions. Course enrollment does not replace responding to a citation or appearing when required.
- Confirm that the court received and accepted the documentation. Do not assume a provider’s certificate submission, if offered, also satisfies DDS or an insurer.
For a DDS driver-license purpose—such as a points-reduction request or reinstatement—use a school on the current DDS-certified Driver Improvement school list. DDS says the regulated course is at least six hours in a classroom and does not accept online classes for driver-license-related purposes. A qualifying course does not automatically dismiss a ticket or reduce points just because you completed it. DDS points reduction has separate eligibility and certificate-submission requirements.
Harris County roads and traffic context
Harris County’s adopted comprehensive plan describes I-185 as a north–south route on the county’s western side, with interchanges connecting to routes including SR 315, SR 116/SR 103, Hopewell Church Road, and SR 18. It identifies US 27/SR 1 as a major north–south route through Hamilton and Pine Mountain and SR 315 as a major east–west route through the county’s southern portion. These routes connect communities and local roads; use current maps and travel information for conditions rather than treating an older planning document as a live work-zone notice. The county plan also discusses traffic conflicts where local and through traffic share routes and identifies particular corridors and intersections for transportation improvements. Those planning observations are not a prediction that a particular driver will receive a citation. For current route maps, use the Georgia DOT county maps.
Georgia course and insurance limits
Georgia calls its regulated course Driver Improvement or Defensive Driving. GoToTrafficSchool’s Georgia page lists an online traffic-school product, but its provider approval for DDS licensing purposes is not established. DDS’s certified-school directory—not a company course description—is the relevant place to check schools for a DDS-approved classroom course.
Georgia law provides an insurance-premium reduction for qualifying drivers and qualifying courses under specified conditions. The available state research does not establish that this particular GoToTrafficSchool course meets those requirements. Ask your insurer whether the specific course and your policy qualify before enrolling; do not assume a course will reduce every coverage premium or guarantee a lower overall premium. For the general state requirements, review DDS’s Driver Improvement FAQ and consult your insurer.
Frequently asked questions
Does Harris County Probate Court handle every traffic ticket issued in Harris County?
No. The county says its Probate Court hears misdemeanor traffic cases occurring in the unincorporated area. Your citation or later notice identifies the court responsible for your case.
Can I use GoToTrafficSchool’s online course for a Harris County ticket?
That is not verified as a countywide rule. Ask the court named on your citation whether it accepts the specific provider and online course for your case before enrolling.
Can I use the online course for Georgia DDS points reduction or reinstatement?
The state research reviewed for this guide indicates DDS does not accept online classes for driver-license-related Driver Improvement purposes. Check DDS’s current certified-school directory and your DDS notice for the course and documentation you need.
What if my ticket does not appear in an online search?
Georgia does not have one centralized citation-search database. Allow the time stated on the Georgia Courts ticket page for online availability, but contact the court named on the citation if you need help. A missing online result does not cancel a deadline.
Do I have to appear in court?
It depends on the charge and court instructions. Harris County Probate Court says some offenses require an appearance. Read the citation and contact the court if you are unsure.
Does completing traffic school dismiss my ticket?
Not automatically. Ask the assigned court whether it permits a course and what effect, if any, the court may give it in your case. Course enrollment alone does not replace a citation response.
Will a traffic course lower my insurance premium?
Georgia law provides for a reduction when statutory conditions are met, but this research did not verify that GoToTrafficSchool’s specific course qualifies. Confirm with your insurer.
