  1. Sign up
  2. Complete the online course
  3. Get your certificate

Georgia has no single statewide citation-search database, and a traffic course does not replace responding to your ticket.

GoToTrafficSchool.com offers a self-paced online Georgia traffic-school course. Its acceptance for a Colquitt County case is not verified. Before enrolling, ask the court named on your citation whether it accepts this specific online course for your case, whether advance permission is required, and how the completion certificate must be submitted. GoToTrafficSchool’s Georgia page describes its course as four hours; Georgia DDS’s separate, regulated Driver Improvement course is six hours and is not accepted online for driver-license purposes.

Before You Enroll in Traffic School

In Georgia, “Driver Improvement” and “Defensive Driving” are interchangeable names for the state-regulated six-hour course. DDS does not accept online Driver Improvement certificates for matters related to a driver’s license or driving privileges. DDS-certified schools and the applicable course format are required for those purposes. Check the DDS-certified Driver Improvement school directory if you need a course for points reduction, reinstatement, or another licensing matter.

For a ticket, court permission and provider acceptance are case-specific. The Colquitt County Clerk identifies a State Court traffic function and links to an online citation-payment service. Neither the court’s payment link nor GoToTrafficSchool’s court-directory listing establishes that the court accepts GoToTrafficSchool’s course for your case. Contact the court before enrolling.

Course completion alone does not dismiss a citation, erase a conviction, or automatically reduce points. For eligible Georgia residents, points reduction requires a qualifying DDS-certified course and submitting the original completion certificate to DDS; DDS says a driver may request reduction of up to seven points once every five years. The DDS Driver Improvement FAQs explain the state program.

Insurance benefits are separate from ticket and licensing requirements. Georgia law provides for a qualifying premium reduction when statutory conditions are met, but whether GoToTrafficSchool’s course qualifies has not been verified. Ask your insurer about the specific course and your policy before enrolling.

Responding to a Colquitt County Traffic Citation

  1. Use the court shown on the citation or later official notice. Do not assume every ticket issued in the county goes to the same court.
  2. Check the response deadline and appearance instructions on your paperwork. A course enrollment does not extend a court deadline.
  3. If you need to locate a citation online, follow the court’s official service link or use Georgia Courts’ Locate or Pay My Ticket page. Georgia Courts says citation information may take 7–21 business days to appear online. If the citation is not visible, contact the court; an online search result does not change the deadline.
  4. Understand what payment means. Georgia.gov explains that accepting the penalty by paying is a guilty plea. Some violations require a court appearance and cannot be paid in advance. If you want to contest a ticket, follow the court appearance and response instructions rather than treating course enrollment as a response.
  5. If a court authorizes a course, get its requirements directly. Confirm the acceptable provider, course format, completion deadline, certificate recipient, submission method, and whether you must still appear. Keep proof of completion and check with the court that it received the certificate.

The county says citations not paid by 4:00 p.m. on the day before the court date require attendance in State Court as directed. Follow your citation and contact the clerk if you are unsure whether this applies to your case. Online payment is a court-service route, not a course-approval determination.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is GoToTrafficSchool approved by Georgia DDS for points reduction or license reinstatement?

No such approval was verified. DDS says it does not accept online Driver Improvement courses for driver-license or driving-privilege purposes. Use a current DDS-certified school and follow DDS instructions for those matters.

Will Colquitt County accept GoToTrafficSchool’s online course for my ticket?

That was not verified for the county or for individual cases. Ask the court named on your citation before enrolling and get its instructions for provider, format, deadline, and certificate delivery.

Can I take the course before asking the court?

Do not assume that completing a course beforehand will satisfy a court requirement. Confirm acceptance and any advance-permission requirement with the court first.

What if my citation does not appear in the online search?

Georgia Courts says there is no centralized statewide citation database and that online availability may take 7–21 business days. Contact the court identified on the citation and continue to follow the stated deadline.

Does paying my ticket count as contesting it?

No. Georgia.gov says accepting the penalty by paying is a guilty plea. Use the court’s instructions if you want to contest the citation.

Can traffic school lower my insurance premium?

Georgia law provides for a qualifying reduction when statutory conditions are met, but GoToTrafficSchool’s specific course qualification has not been verified. Ask your insurer about your eligibility, policy, and the particular course.

Does a traffic course erase points automatically?

No. DDS describes points reduction as a request requiring a qualifying course and submission of the original certificate. Course completion by itself does not automatically change a driving record.
