GoToTrafficSchool’s online Georgia course is not verified as accepted by either local court. Contact the court listed on your citation and get any required approval before enrolling. Taking a course does not replace responding to the citation.
Georgia uses Driver Improvement and Defensive Driving for its regulated six-hour course. GoToTrafficSchool’s Georgia product is a separate, self-paced online course marketed as “Traffic School.” Do not use it for a Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS) requirement unless DDS confirms that the specific course qualifies. DDS says online courses are not accepted for its driver-license purposes.
Which course is appropriate?
Purpose | What to know |
|---|---|
A citation in Ben Hill County | Ask the court named on the citation whether it will accept GoToTrafficSchool’s specific online course for your case, and whether you need approval before enrolling. Acceptance is not verified as a countywide rule. |
Georgia DDS requirements, including a points-reduction request | DDS requires its certified Driver Improvement course; its materials say online classes are not accepted for driver-license purposes. GoToTrafficSchool’s online course is not verified as a DDS-certified course. |
A possible insurance benefit | Georgia law provides for an insurance reduction when statutory conditions are met and a qualifying course is completed. Whether GoToTrafficSchool’s course qualifies is unresolved. Ask your insurer before enrolling. |
Voluntary education | GoToTrafficSchool describes its product as an online traffic-school course. State approval or acceptance for this use has not been independently established. |
GoToTrafficSchool lists a self-paced, four-hour Georgia “Traffic School” course, as well as a Spanish-language version. These are company-described product details, not evidence of DDS certification or local court acceptance. The company says its course includes a final exam and describes certificate options. Confirm the court’s requirements and how it wants proof delivered before you enroll.

Identify the court before you respond
Ben Hill County’s Probate Court and the City of Fitzgerald Municipal Court both publish traffic-related information. The ticket or later official notice identifies the court assigned to your case; do not select a court based only on where you live or where a courthouse is located.
Ben Hill County Probate Court
The county Probate Court’s webpage provides traffic-court information and payment access. The local research identifies it as a traffic-citation contact for some matters in the county. Check your citation to confirm this is your court.
- Address: 111 South Sheridan Street, Fitzgerald, GA 31750
- Traffic telephone: (229) 426-5137
- Published public hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m.; hearing schedules may differ.
- Official court information and payment link: Ben Hill County Probate Court
Fitzgerald Municipal Court
The City of Fitzgerald Municipal Court handles traffic matters within its municipal role. The city’s court page provides payment information and directs people to contact the clerk about case-specific questions. Check your citation to confirm this is your court.
- Address: City Hall, 302 E. Central Avenue, second floor, Fitzgerald, GA 31750
- Clerk telephone: (229) 426-5004
- Published public hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m., except official holidays.
- Official court information: Fitzgerald Municipal Court
- Citation lookup and payment: Fitzgerald Municipal Court’s linked nCourt service
These are the relevant local court contacts identified in the research, not a substitute for checking your citation. For statewide court-system information, see the Georgia Courts directory.
Responding to a ticket and considering a course
- Read the citation and any later notice. Use the court, response method, and deadline shown there. Georgia does not have one centralized citation-search database. Some courts use online services, but availability depends on the court.
- If the ticket is not online, contact the assigned court. A missing online record does not cancel a response deadline. The statewide Locate or Pay My Ticket page explains that participating court systems may take time to make a ticket available.
- Ask about course acceptance before enrolling. Ask whether the court will accept this specific online course for your citation, whether advance permission is required, and how and when it requires proof of completion. Do not assume approval is automatic.
- Follow the court’s response instructions separately. Course enrollment alone does not answer a citation. Georgia’s guidance says paying a ticket is a guilty plea. If you want to contest a citation, follow the court’s instructions rather than treating course completion as a substitute.
- Confirm receipt of any required certificate. Do not assume a provider’s certificate process reports completion to your court or DDS. Confirm with the intended recipient that it received the required document.
For general statewide procedures, see Georgia.gov’s Pay a Traffic Ticket and Prepare for a Traffic Violation Court Appearance pages. They do not establish a single response deadline or course-approval rule for every case.
Georgia Driver Improvement and insurance: important limits
DDS says its regulated Driver Improvement course is at least six hours in a classroom and that online classes are not accepted for driver-license purposes. A qualifying DDS course may be used to request a reduction of up to seven points once every five years, subject to the state’s requirements. Completing a course does not itself remove points: DDS describes a separate process, including submitting the original certificate.
Georgia law requires insurers to offer a reduction on specified personal or family private-passenger policy coverages when statutory conditions are satisfied. The adult course requirements differ from the qualifying course specified for drivers under 25. GoToTrafficSchool’s course has not been verified as meeting the statutory criteria. Confirm both your eligibility and the course’s qualification with your insurer before relying on a possible benefit.
Find a current DDS-certified classroom provider through the official Certified Driver Improvement Schools directory. The research identified Tift Area Driver Improvement Clinic in Tifton as a regional option; confirm current certification, address, schedule, and availability in the directory or with the provider before making plans.
Frequently asked questions
Does Ben Hill County accept GoToTrafficSchool’s online course for a ticket?
Countywide acceptance was not verified. Contact the court named on your citation and obtain any required permission before enrolling.
Which court should I contact?
Use the court shown on your citation or later official notice. The Probate Court and Fitzgerald Municipal Court publish traffic information, but a county or city name alone does not establish which court has your case.
Does completing an online course take care of my citation?
No. Course enrollment does not replace responding to a citation. Ask your assigned court whether it accepts the specific course and separately follow the court’s response instructions.
Can I use GoToTrafficSchool for DDS points reduction or reinstatement?
That use is not verified. DDS says online classes are not accepted for its driver-license purposes and requires a DDS-certified course for regulated Driver Improvement purposes.
Can I use the course for an insurance reduction?
That is unresolved for this specific course. Georgia law sets conditions for qualifying reductions, but the course’s qualification has not been established. Ask your insurer.
What if I cannot find my ticket online?
Contact the court identified on the citation or notice. Georgia has no centralized citation-search database, and an online record may not be available immediately. A missing record does not cancel a stated deadline.
Where can I find a DDS-certified classroom course?
Use the current DDS certified-school directory. The regional Tift Area clinic in Tifton was identified in the research, but verify its current listing and course arrangements before enrolling.
