Should I Take Basic or Advanced Defensive Driving in Delaware?

My first question would be:

Why are you taking the course?

Seriously.

That's usually the answer.

If a court, employer, insurance company, or somebody else told you to take a specific course, then that's the course you should take.

Problem solved.

Most people get stuck because they start comparing classes before they figure out what they actually need.

I've done that before.

You open a website, see ten different options, and suddenly you're trying to figure out the difference between courses you've never even heard of.

Meanwhile, all you really needed was one piece of information.

If you're just taking a defensive driving course because you want a refresher or because somebody suggested it might be a good idea, the basic course is usually where people start.

The word "advanced" makes it sound better.

Sometimes it isn't.

Sometimes it's just different.

I remember helping a relative sign up for a course once. We spent way too much time reading course descriptions and comparing options.

Then we called and asked.

The answer took about fifteen seconds.

That experience taught me something.

Most of the confusion disappears once you know why you're taking the class.

Everything else gets a lot easier after that.
