1. What is a defensive driving or traffic school course?
In many states, courts allow eligible defendants to take an approved defensive driving or traffic school course to dismiss or hide a ticket and keep their insurance rates low. Although the names are different, traffic school and defensive driving are essentially the same thing and may be referred to differently in certain states.

*In the State of California, tickets are not dismissed but can be "masked" if you complete an online traffic school course. This will prevent the point from being placed on your driver record.
