In Arizona, you are eligible to take defensive driving for diversion (ticket dismissal) if you have an eligible traffic violation. You are eligible to take the course if your traffic violation DID NOT result in a collision that killed or seriously injured any person, as specified by ARS 28-3392(C)(1). Commercial drivers’ license holders are NOT eligible to take a diversion course, regardless of whether they are driving commercially at the time of the violation, if the violation date occurred on or after 8/25/04. Also, Photo radar citations issued by the Department of Public Safety (DPS) are NOT eligible for diversion. You may only take defensive driving for diversion once every 24 months. Please note: if you have received more than 1 violation and were granted an extension of the court date, the extension covers only the violation for which you are now attending school. All other violations must be handled with the court by the original court date as written on the ticket by the officer. You must be able to complete this class at least 7 days prior to your court date.

You are required to verify your identity before taking the final exam. You may do this in one of the following two ways: 1) at an on-site testing location (a business with public internet access) or 2) online through Experian. There is a non-refundable fee of $14.95 for verifying through Experian, while testing locations generally charge $5.00 to $10.00. The final exam is divided into two sections: 25 course environment questions and 25 course content questions. Each section of the exam must be completed in 15 minutes or less. If you do not finish within this time, you may not receive credit for the course. 1) Course Environment Questions. You are required to score 80% or better (20 out of 25 questions) in order to pass the environmental portion of the exam, which will test your recollection of images and pictures throughout the course. If you fail the environmental portion of the exam, you will fail the course so please make sure to pay extra close attention to the images throughout the course. It is an open book exam so we also encourage you to take notes. You must pass this portion of the final exam on your first attempt. No re-takes are permitted. 2) Course Content Questions. The optional course content review will not count against your overall course score and is intended to reinforce the chapter you material you learned during the course.
Your certificate of completion will be sent directly to you for your records, according to the delivery method you select during registration. We will report your course completion directly to Gilbert Municipal Court, according to the requirements of Gilbert Municipal Court.
